H1 Visa Holders Applying for a Driver’s License

 

Current Employees
The University of Pittsburgh uses an automated service called The Work Number to securely provide employment and income verification to verifiers such as lenders, property managers and other employers that

you authorize to have that information.


Please note: The University’s Payroll Department will provide this information for Social Service Agencies.  Click on the “Social Services Agencies” link above for information.

 

The Work Number can provide the following information, which is updated on a biweekly basis: Name, Most recent hire date, Separation date, Total time with The University, Current or former job title, Rate of Pay, Gross earnings for current year and up to two years past - including base pay, overtime, and  other compensation.

 

Instructions for Employment Verification only

For Employment plus Income Verification
In order for the verifier to access your salary information, you must generate a salary key and provide it to the verifier. 


1. Create a Salary Key
This is a six-digit number that allows one-time access, by the verifier, to your salary information.
      

To create a salary Key for the first time, make sure you have your employee ID number (which can be found on your pay statement) and follow these instructions: 

At this point you can return to the main menu or Log out. After you have set up your initial account, the next time you go to the Work Number website to create another salary key, you can skip the enrollment steps.

Former Employees

The University of Pittsburgh uses an automated service called The Work Number to securely provide employment and income verification to verifiers such as lenders, property managers and other employers that

you authorize to have that information.


Information on employees who terminated prior to June 2012 is not available through the Work Number.  If you terminated prior to June, 2012 verifications may be sent directly to the University at the following address:

If you terminated employment from the University after June 2012, your information is available through the Work Number.  Please follow the instructions for Current Employees.

To Obtain Proof of Employment Only
1. Contact The Work Number by using one of the above options.
2. Follow the instructions. You will need the following information:
• The University of Pittsburgh Employer Code:  14726
• The employee’s Social Security Number (provided by the employee).

 

To Obtain Proof of Employment Plus Income
1. Use the instructions above for obtaining proof of employment.
•You will also need a salary key (authorization code) which is provided by the employee.

What qualifies as a Social Service Organization?
A qualifying Social Service Organization is a government agency that is granting a low-income benefit. An agency that provides state or federal assistance to qualified applicants, like human services, social services, family services, Social Security Administration, Housing Authorities, Work Programs, and Medicaid. Child Support Enforcement Agencies are also considered social service agencies as well.
