American Type Culture Collection (ATCC) order processing
Effective as of May 21, 2009, departmental purchasers must issue purchase orders directly through PRISM to ATCC for all bio-safety level one (BSL1) type biological materials valued at less than $5000.
Purchasing Services will continue to process ATCC orders that are:
Bio-safety level two (BSL2) or higher or
$5000.00 or more
ATCC ORDER PROCESSING –BSL1
University of Pittsburgh’s "Verification of Compliance with Material Transfer Agreement" document is no longer required for BSL1 materialsBSL1 orders valued at less than $5000
Submit purchase order directly to ATCC through PRISM
Principal Investigator’s full name, title, and contact information must appear on all purchase orders
BSL1 orders valued at greater than $5000 –
Submit requisition to Purchasing Services through PRISM
Principal Investigator’s full name, title, and contact information must appear on the requisition
ATCC ORDER PROCESSING – BSL2 or higher
The process for ordering ATCC BSL2 or higher materials is not changing. The Department of Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) must approve the entire ATCC order if any part of the order includes materials that are BSL2 or higher.
Principal Investigator must initiate and be responsible for all ATCC orders
All ATCC orders are subject to the terms of ATCC Material Transfer Agreement
Purchaser/ Principal Investigator shall not distribute, sell, lend or otherwise transfer to a person or entity the Biological Material for any reason without ATCC’s prior written agreement.
BSL1 orders for less than $5000 received at Purchasing Services will be returned to the department for order placement.
