Multiple Changes Coming to the PantherBuy System  

 

The PantherBuy team is pleased to announce the upcoming rollout of an expanded and improved version of the PantherBuy Software.      

Retirement of the PantherBuy Name and Logo:

The change that will be most noticeable will be the retirement of the PantherBuy name and its logo.  Effective August 06, 2012, PantherBuy will be renamed PantherExpress System and will be represented by a new logo. This change will affect all of the system users and our suppliers.  The new PantherExpress logo is below:

What does this mean to University Purchasers?

You can count on the same exceptional technical guidance, customer service, and administrative support because the PantherExpress System will be managed by the same team (the former PantherBuy team).   Right now, the only change you will see is a new name and logo.   All PantherBuy functionality (the way you place orders) will remain the same.   

Changes in functionality are forthcoming; however, those changes will not be available to you until your department has been notified well in advance and formally prepared for the transition.  The PantherExpress team will contact your department to arrange all necessary training and support for the roll-out of the expanded functionality in the PantherExpress System (a more powerful version of PantherBuy).    

Not all departments will be transitioned at the same time.  Over the next several months, the PantherExpress System will be implemented in several pilot departments.   However, University-wide implementation will occur over time.  The initial University-wide rollout is scheduled to start in September 2012, and it is anticipated to take up to a year for us to enroll, train and go live with all of the University Departments.     

Once your department receives access to the fully implemented version of the PantherExpress system, you will be able to take advantage of many new features that will make purchasing more convenient for you.  The fully functional version of the new PantherExpress System will include the following time-saving and convenient features:

  • One-stop shopping – all purchases of goods and services will be made through the PantherExpress System;

  • One-stop payment requests – all requests for payment, including disbursement requests, will be made online in PantherExpress;

  • Quicker turn-around time on transactions;

  • Ability to submit special orders, quotes, blanket orders;

  • Ability to submit attachments online; and

  • A convenient single sign-on point from www.my.pitt.edu.

Who participated in the expansion project?

The expansion is the result of a year-long project that included representatives from 25 of the largest end-user departments using PRISM and PantherBuy today, as well as the PantherBuy team, Payment Processing, and Purchasing Services.  This team designed and tested the software.   This team also utilized the expertise of subject matter experts at key decision junctures during all phases of software design and testing.

How will you be informed of the progress of this expansion project?

Look for ongoing updates and announcements from the PantherExpress team (the former PantherBuy team) and check the dedicated PantherBuy Expansion webpage  regularly for updates and further details about the status of this project.

Right now, the only change you will see is a new name and logo.   All PantherBuy functionality (the way you have always placed orders in PantherBuy) will remain the same until further notice.

bullet September 17, 2012: Implementation of single sign-on access to the PantherExpress system. Login to the PantherExpress system through www.my.pitt.edu.

bullet To Be Announced: As the expansion moves forward, your department will be notified and prepared well in advance for full implementation of PantherExpress System functionality.
