REQUESTS FOR POLICY & CLAIMS HISTORY ("CREDENTIALING")
Definition: "Credentialing" describes the process when employers seek to establish the qualifications of licensed professionals and their claims history for purposes of establishing legitimacy.
- The University receives requests from prospective employers, departments and often students to provide medical malpractice loss/claims history & insurance coverage for credentialing purposes.
- The University of Pittsburgh Office of Risk Management does not handle credentialing requests. These are processed by UPMC.
HERE IS THE PROCESS TO RESPOND:
- Direct requests for evidence of malpractice coverage and claims history to Tri-Century Insurance Company attention Tisha Parise at firstname.lastname@example.org.
- NOTE: UPMC requires a minimum of 30 days for processing of requests.
