Maureen Beal

  • Associate Vice Chancellor for Financial Operations

As the Associate Vice Chancellor for Financial Operations, Maureen is responsible for managing the processes, accounting, tax withholding and regulatory reporting associated with approximately $2.5 billion of annual University spending. By working with other regional anchor institutions to identify and develop local, small and diverse suppliers and service providers, Financial Operations improves the University’s regional economic impact. Maureen and her team also seek environmentally-preferable products and supply chain processes to reduce the University’s carbon footprint.

Since joining the University, Maureen has also served on a number of University governance committees, including the University’s Conflict of Interest Committee, the Faculty Senate Subcommittee on Sustainability of the Plant Utilization and Planning Committee, the Export Controls Executive Committee, and she co-chaired the Provosts’ Advisory Committee on Women’s Concerns.

Prior to joining the University, Maureen supervised financial and information systems audits for Price Waterhouse Coopers, LLC (PwC), and spent eight years developing and implementing accounting information systems for Limbach Incorporated, an international mechanical contracting firm. Her early career at Pitt included service on the University’s Information Architecture team, which developed an IT blueprint for the University and lead several large process projects.

Maureen holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with concentrations in Accounting and Information Sciences from Robert Morris University, and has been a Pennsylvania Certified Public Accountant (CPA) since 1987.
